HOMEOSTASIS

Inspirada en el concepto de homeostasis, creado por Claude Bernard en el siglo XIX. El término, procedente del griego: homeo (similar) y stasis (posición), hace referencia a la tendencia de los organismos vivos y otros sistemas a adaptarse a las nuevas condiciones y mantener el equilibrio a pesar de los cambios.
La comprensión de la Humanidad o incluso la completa Biosfera, como un superorganismo que debe adaptar su conducta para hacer sostenible su existencia, evoca la teoría de Gaia, ideada por Lovelock en 1969, donde se describe a una entidad compleja que implica a la biosfera, atmósfera, océanos y tierra; constituyendo en su totalidad un sistema cibernético o retroalimentado que busca un entorno físico y químico óptimo para la vida en el planeta.
Inspired by the concept of homeostasis, defined by Claude Bernard in the 19th century. The term, originates from Greek: homeo (similar) and stasis (standing still), references the living organisms and other systems tendency to adapt to new conditions and maintain the equilibrium against the changes.
The comprehension of Humanity or even of the whole Biosphere, as a super organism which must adapt its behaviour to make a sustainable existence. This brings to mind the Gaia hypothesis, proposed by Lovelock in 1969, where he describes a complex interacting system integrated by the biosphere, atmosphere, oceans and earth; either completely conforming a cybernetic system or as a feedback that looks for a physical and chemical environment optimal for life in the planet.
